THE RAPTURE/Jesus’ Teaching.

Controversy?  It’s just the noise caused by men’s flesh in their credentialed or non-credentialed pride.  Jesus own clear teaching on the Rapture to Martha, sister of Lazarus and Mary.   Of course it requires reading comprehension skills.  A rare gift?
“But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.  23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.  24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.  25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:  26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”  (KJV)
Another problem I have with the seminarilly confused (my own coined term) is demonstrated here in comparing a couple examples from NIV with this KJV excerpt.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”  (NIV)
The modern translators and suggestors, here have to skew the language toward clarification in regard to their interpretation whether right or wrong???  Just like Bart Ehrman suggests.  They play into his hands.
Another example of the seminarilly confused (aren’t they Lord Jesus?  They are the ones who confused Mr. Dr. Bart Ehrman) is expressly demonstrated from 2 Peter 1:  3, 4:
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.  4  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”   (NIV © 1978 New York International Bible Society, Tenth Printing April 1980) (I received this in 1980 from a friend and the text of NIV has been changed in many places since).
But many among the seminarilly confused do not place faith in the idea God’s Promises are the substance of salvation, YA’LL GOTS TO REPINT AND QUITCHERSINNING.  GAWD DUMB-ANDS HOLINESSS.  (See I Corinthians 1: 28-31)  So the words, in order to correct the translators before them (Just like Bart says they do) the EGG HEADS rewrite, verse 4:
“4  Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”  (NIV) (Bible Gateway online)
You must understand the misunderstanding before you can accept true understanding from the Spirit of Truth, as Jesus explained to his disciples on the night of his betrayal scourging, trial(s) and sentencing to crucifixion as the King of The Jews.  John 16: 12-14:
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”  (NIV)
This is how the kingdom of God functions and this revelatory relationship with Jesus, through the Spirit of truth is necessary to see the kingdom of God, Jesus reveals in John chapter 3.  This to the Seminary Professor Nicodemus.
In John chapter 4 Jesus commissioned the first Gentile evangelist a high class Samaritan hooker (unwilling to walk the streets) who married numerous men and then returned (?) to the one who was not her husband.
She told the truth and Jesus recounted her history to her and said, “I am the messiah.”  She ran to town and told them all, the messiah is down at the well.
Peter then in 2 Peter 1: 5-8 tells us what we are to do with faith and knowledge never using the words repent or obey, Peter says:
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;  6  and to knowledge, self-control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance godliness;  7  and to godliness; brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  8  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Who does not want to live their life that way?  Now Jesus also spoke these ideas of Peter, himself in Matthew 11: 28-30:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  (NIV)
Rest, he is gentle and humble in heart giving rest for your souls and his great and precious promise his yoke is easy and his burden is light.  Not the constant tension those who do not trust in his words live under.  As Paul said, “walk after his Spirit and you are not under law.”
Back to Jesus’ teaching on the Rapture.  Many of those under tension will tell you there is no rapture and the word rapture is not in the Bible.  But!
Strongs releals the Greek Translated at  “1611 ékstasis (from 1839 /eksístēmi, “completely remove”) – properly, take outof regular position (standing) and bring into a state of ecstasy (rapture) – like a person “carried out” in trance-like amazement. This state of mind reaches far beyond the powers of ordinary perception.”
Jerome translated this Greek Word into Latin in the Vulgate.  That is Catholic Document.  He translated the Greek as Rapimur of course the KJV in 1611 translated Rapimur as “Caught Up.”
The NIV followed suit as we find at I Thessalonians 4: 17:
“For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
So we see those claiming Rapture is not in the Bible suffer under modern academic SCIENCE I call ignorance, “The Science of The ignoring of the facts.”  Dr. Ehrman, you need to read my book and respond.
That is how Paul explained it.  We have seen already, Jesus said, in John 11: 25 “he that believes in me though he were dead, yet shall he live.”  In verse 26:  “… He that believes in me shall never die.”  He is saying the same thing Paul is saying in I Thessalonians.  Right after this he raised Lazarus from the dead.  Clearly the context fits perfectly also.
Before Paul wrote Thessalonians, and after Jesus taught Martha about the Rapture and Raised Lazarus from the dead to demonstrate, Jesus spoke to his disciples in Matthew 24.

“That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.  (NIV)

[Left Behind]

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”  (NIV)

More than this I will not say for now.  Ask the Lord to give you his Spirit of prophesy to reveal these things to you.  Revelation 19: 9, 10:

“Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

“At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”  (NIV)
