LANGUAGE
When Gramma gave me the KJV Red Lettered Edition, I was seventeen years old. Doest thouest understandeth 400th yeareth old achaic languageth? Nope! Lust for instance, in English 400 years ago was universally applied across the range of human desire. Lust for a Cadillac, great career or corporate jet. Now it has become narrowed to mean primarily sexual desire for the most of us.
MEANING SHIFT
Language migrates in meaning, not remaining static, over time, therefore dynamic. Those of the KJV only division of the body of Christ [not supposed to have divisions] reveal an incredible amount of ignorance inasmuch as they apparently believe word for word translation from Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic is possible i.e. the in Greek becomes the in English etc. Launguages do not translate that way. Greek is a dead language, meaning the Greek of the Bible is static, no longer spoken.
METANOIA
Metanoia is a Greek Word Jesus and John the Baptist used. (No I am not a Greek Scholar, nor do I know Greek with the exception of a few words I have been forced to learn as matters of clearing up contradictions, having bothered to read the Bible extensively for 39 years. No commentaries! Jesus sent me the Spirit of truth and I believe him.
Strong’s (Greek Lexicon) at 3341 reveals how this word, REPENT, has dynamically morphed into heretical proportions:
3341 metánoia – literally, “a change of mind” (“after–thought“); repentance. See 3340 /metanoeō (“repent”).
3340 metanoéō (from 3326 /metá, “changed after being with” and 3539 /noiéō, “think”) – properly, “think differently after,” “after a change of mind“; to repent (literally, “think differently afterwards”).
ERROR AT THE FOUNDATION
There is a very good book by an Episcopal Minister named Treadwell Walden who wrote “The Great Meaning of Metanoia.” (Available on Amazon $8.99) Fact is we have teaching and translation and commentaries coming from Rome in our midst. The Roman church did not understand the gospel of grace and Jerome in translating the Latin Vulgate translated Metanoia as “DO PENANCE.” (foundation in reason for Luther’s reformation) Or as the KJV translators stated: “Repent”
BELIEVE THE GOOD NEWS
So when Jesus says in Mark 1: 14, 15:
“After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” (NIV)
Jesus said, to those weened on law of the Torah, Torah was their life:
“Change your mind and believe the good news.”
“Believe the Good News“ is the paramount point.
NOT IN THE BIBLE
From there, thanks to Jerome and KJV translation combined with dynamic migration of meanings of words, we now have an utter heresy through scriptural perversion:
REPENT OF YOUR SINS. Moses never said it, the Prophets never said it, Jesus never said it, the Jewish Apostles never said it and Paul, Jesus’ authorized messenger to Gentiles never said it either.
POLITICS OF JESUS
Another place the repent teachers go for their error is in Luke 13: 1-5:
“Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.” (NIV)
This is one of the rare times I think KJV more clearly communicates
Luke 13: 3: “I tell you Nay: But except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.”
Luke 13: 5: “I tell you Nay: But except ye repent, ye shall likewise perish
Be killed by Pilate for political intrigue an iniquity. Iniquity means a scheme other than God plan.
Let’s think here. Jesus is laying out the exact situation he found in Peter on the night he rebuked him as Satan. Peter as the disciple, (Governor Peter???) stood to gain much in this world if Jesus were to assume the throne of Israel and throw off the Romans. This was the belief and hope among many Jews in that day. But the poor programming from the Vulgate’s misapprehension of the gospel of grace leading to 1,000 years of faulty thinking and commentaries, results in “Repent of Your Sins” or “you too will all likewise perish.”
Right after this Jesus tells the parable of the Barre fig tree. To live in a constant state of sin consciousness in endless repenting does not bear the fruit God sent his son to bring forth. The law makes us conscious of sin and once we are aware we have no way to become unsinners or reach God’s Glory and we are hopeless apart from the atonement sacrifice. Jesus is that atonement sacrifice we are to rest under denying ourselves and do no work. God has provided no works we can do to save ourselves.
THE FEAST DAY OF ATONEMENT
Leviticus 23: 26-32:
“The Lord said to Moses, 27 “The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present a food offering to the Lord. 28 Do not do any work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the Lord your God. 29 Those who do not deny themselves on that day must be cut off from their people. 30 I will destroy from among their people anyone who does any work on that day. 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. 32 It is a day of sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath.”
PROPHESY CONFIRMED BY JESUS AND PAUL
Per Jesus’ own words, as demonstrated, here, these four gospels are not books for developing Gentile Christian theologies, and the Prophets support what the Spirit of truth has revealed in Paul, as Jesus Ordained, through the witness Ananias and confirmed with miracles.
God foretold the New Covenant to Jeremiah in 31: 31-34:
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant
I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them,”
declares the Lord.
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.”
God is not remembering your sins. He has put his law in your minds and written it in your heart. He did not send all these teachers. He forgives your wickedness and remembers your sins no more.
REPENT OF YOUR SINS IS NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE!
To make up an entirely non-scriptural religion mentioning Bible characters is not Christian Experience. It is HERESY!
The word repent is not found anywhere in the Book of John. It’s not there! Earl?
Paul in all of Romans said REPENT only twice, once for God changing his mind and then in Romans 2: 4 speaking about men condemning themselves by their judging others treating God’s mercy with contempt. Need to change your minds about judging others, a boasting always founded upon, “I’m OK BUT YOU’RE NOT! (Christian Transactional analysis). I’m Josey Wales.
THEY WON”T LISTEN TO JESUS
Let’s listen to Jesus. Acts 9: 15:
“But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” (NIV)
Red Letters. One more time Matthew 15: 22-24, Jesus defining the mission he was NOT on and the one he was on:
“A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
Whom does Jesus say all those red letter parts in the KJV gramma gave me are for here?
Paul, Jesus’ messenger to Gentiles (also Jews during the church age) confirms Jesus in Romans 15: 8-13:
“For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:
“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;
I will sing the praises of your name.”
10 Again, it says,
“Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”
11 And again,
“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
let all the peoples extol him.”
12 And again, Isaiah says,
“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”
13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NIV)
