Acts 3: 19

In Acts 3: 19 we find Peter again preaching to Jews in the temple court.  Peter was, as Acts 15 tells us, the Apostle to the Jews.

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus.”  (NIV)

Peter says nothing here about baptism.  Hmmmm.  Romans 10: 9, 10.

Acts 15: 5-11:

“Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.” (NIV)

Apostles And The Torah

The apostles and elders met to consider this question. After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

Blabberers, Testing God, Peter’s Correction

Got into a big discussion on social media last night about law, Torah, and all the rest of that … nonsense!  Those people cause division and through teaching diverse from the scriptures.  Lord you here tell them through the Spirit of truth their claims, STILL BEING MADE 2,000 plus years later are NONSENSE!  “… test God [Lord humble these mini-moseses, or manifest the curse Paul pronounced, I do not care if you are happy!] again:

“test God … putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke [are you a farm animal] that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?”  (NIV)

Then he speaks the only reality Jesus has provided:

“No! We believe it is through the GRACE of our Lord Jesus that we are saved.” (NIV)

Here we have confirmation in Acts from Peter, that Ephesians 2: 8-10 is concise and correct:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  (NIV)

Grace is not cheap, It’s a FREE and a Gift.  It cannot be read as something you earn anywhere else in the Bible.  Its is prophesied at Jeremiah 31: 31-34 (House of Judah and the separate House of Israel) (God separates them there.)  What is prophesied in Jeremiah there is confirmed by Jesus in John at 5: 24; 6: 28, 29 and 8: 15 (read together always … the entire book) and then revealed by Paul to Gentiles who are not under law now, nor have we ever been, under the Law of Ancient Israel.

Jeremiah states the new covenant, not like the covenant I made with their fathers … .”  Torah?  Indeed!  Sorry Rabbis you are going to have to “change your minds” and “believe the good news” that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world (Isaiah 53) was raised again to live, presented himself alive to those who saw him dead, then glorified after being taken up to heaven by God.  He is God.

Scholars understand the translations for lack of a better word are crappy.  All of them.  Full of errors.  The book is not the Spirit of Truth (John 16: 12-14).  The Spirit of truth guides into the whole truth, not the book by itself.  Greek and Hebrew do not translate well into English.  Word for word, like dog in Hebrew/Greek is dog in English.  Just doesn’t work that way.

The Vulgate.  Translated by those in Constantine’s Apostasy translated the Greek word Metanoia as “Do Penance”  which became in English “REPENT.”  (feel sorry … write us a check).

Jesus predicting Peter’s denials, Luke 22: 32

“But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” (NIV)

Here is what we find for the word translated from metanoéō in Strong’s:
Strong’s Concordance
metanoeó: to change one’s mind or purpose

Original Word: μετανοέω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: metanoeó
Phonetic Spelling: (met-an-o-eh’-o)
Definition: to change one’s mind or purpose
Usage: I repent, change my mind, change the inner man (particularly with reference to acceptance of the will of God), repent.

HELPS Word-studies

3340 metanoéō (from 3326 /metá, “changed after being with” and 3539 /noiéō, “think”) – properly, “think differently after,” “after a change of mind“; to repent(literally, “think differently afterwards”).

AUTHOR’S NOTE:  The word repent is never used in John not once.  Paul used it in Romans 2: 4 concerning those who judge others.  Repent of your sins is found exactly ZERO times anywhere in scripture.  CQ

So when Jesus tells you “Repent and believe the good news”, in Mark 1, he, there speaking to Jews under the law says:

“Change your mind [about this religion … the law] and “Believe The Good News.”

If you are not convinced and you still love spouting and boasting about the law which yoke Peter has told us neither “we” [the apostles] nor our forefathers could bear.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you. “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”10 I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion, whoever that may be, will have to pay the penalty. 11 Brothers and sisters, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished. 12 As for those agitators, I wish they would go the whole way and emasculate themselves!” (NIV)

Any One Eyed Christians?

If they who blow about the law were obedient like they claim, they would have only one eye.  Matthew 5: 28, 29:

“But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away.”  (NIV)

So if I ever hear one of the boastful lawgivers who has one eye, maybe then I would listen.  Here comes misquoted 5: 18, “nu uh the law won’t never disappear til dooms day, they say.  Read 5: 18 and 19 about 100 times very slowly and then tell us who is IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD ??  [Hint:  Two kinds of people] John 16: 27.  Can’t unearn what you did not earn!

Jesus Ordained one special minister for Gentiles, their rulers and the people of Israel (Read Hosea to find what happened to the ten norther tribes … Ephraim) they went west as Paul went “west driven by the wind of the Spirit” (John 3) to find “Israel” driven by the “wind of Hosea” and “sifted like corn through the nations.”  The mystery of Christ.

Jesus Ordains Paul

Jesus:  RED LETTERS:  Acts 9: 15:

“For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

10 In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!”

“Yes, Lord,” he answered.

11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. 12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”

13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. 14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”

15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” (NIV)

They Don’t Listen

The leadership of the alleged church do not obey the Lord.  This has caused much division.  Here Paul explains about the law, speaking to Timothy, like his son in I Timothy 1: 5-7:

“The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.” (NIV)

A “pure heart” (by faith and the renewing of your minds), a good conscience (in submission to the Spirit of Christ) and a sincere faith.

Teachers of The Law

Those teachers of the Torah do not know what they are talking about per the Ordained of Jesus.
