My Primary Identity: Daniel 12: 3, 4: Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.” Also SHORT STORY WRITER, SINGER SONGWRITER, SOJOURNER.
Ok here is how we rightly divide the word of God. And why.
Matthew 10 Jesus sent the twelve to Israel telling them not to go to Gentiles.
“These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel.” (NIV)
In Matthew 15 Jesus says, “I am sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel.” Matthew 15: 21-26:
“Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”
23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.”
24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”
25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said.
26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” (NIV)
READ THE GOSPELS BUT JEWS WERE UNDER LAW THEN AND FOR 40 YEARS THEREAFTER, Law of Moses, Law of Israel. (God ENDED it IN 70 A.D.) A covenant of law Jesus came to fulfill and set aside in his flesh, as Paul tells us.
Christ ORDAINED PAUL (Around 36 A.D.) to bring his name before Gentiles, Rulers and the people of Israel.
Christ Ordains Paul Acts 9: 15:
In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!”
“Yes, Lord,” he answered.
11 The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.12 In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.”
13 “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem.14 And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrumentto proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”
17 Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands onSaul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”18 Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized,19 and after taking some food, he regained his strength.
Saul in Damascus and Jerusalem
Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus.20 At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. (NIV)
In Israel, the people still subject to the law as the political reality James, became the leader in Jerusalem. Galatians explains Paul’s gospel he received from Christ by revelation showing it to be different than what Jesus taught in Israel, due to the Law and the promises made to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Constitution of Israel … still the political law) with the High Priest left in the seat of Moses as Jesus said exclusively to people,in Israel.
A Nazarene pastor told me this from the gospels. But God’s intent from 38 plus years of reading the scripture, in communion with the Spirit of truth shows clearly the Lord had and has not intention to spread the law of Moses around the earth. Ignoring them and their commentaries as authoritative I have while listening in the Spirit in churches to the correct and the incorrect, discerning what is true or not. These are the instructions from Paul in listening to prophets, are they not?
I Corinthians 14: 29-33:
“Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.30 And if a revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, the first speaker should stop.31 For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.32 The spirits of prophets are subject to the control of prophets.33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people.” (NIV)
Paul in I Galatians 1: 11:
“I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin.12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.” (NIV)
James’ disciples left Israel and tried to make Gentiles become Jews and obey the law to be saved. Galatians 2:
Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also.2 I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my racein vain.3 Yet not even Titus, who was with me, was compelled to be circumcised, even though he was a Greek.4 This matter arose because some false believers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus and to make us slaves.5 We did not give in to them for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.
6 As for those who were held in high esteem—whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not show favoritism—they added nothing to my message.7 On the contrary, they recognized that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the uncircumcised,[a]just as Peter had been to the circumcised.[b]8 For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles.9 James, Cephas[c] and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised.10 All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I had been eager to do all along. (NIV)
Paul and Barnabus went to Jerusalem. This is fully explained in Acts 15. The apostles there decided and James wrote to the church in Antioch:
Acts 15: 13, 14:
“When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. 14 Simon[a] has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement … Acts 15: “Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers. 23 With them they sent the following letter:
The apostles and elders, your brothers,
To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:
24 We have heard that some went out from us without our authorization and disturbed you, troubling your minds by what they said. 25 So we all agreed to choose some men and send them to you with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul— 26 men who have risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 Therefore we are sending Judas and Silas to confirm by word of mouth what we are writing. 28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.” (NIV)
This is the best documented even with representatives being sent both ways to verify the authenticity of the letter as from the apostles in Jerusalem. Notice “seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us …” James’ letter is clearly stated as a book to Hebrews. It took me over 30 years of reading to sort all of this out because the Nazarenes don’t know how to rightly divide the Word of God. Or they believe the “witchcraft” as Paul called using the law to manipulate others to alleged holiness, is called. Not to set aside sanctification as Jesus lays it out in John 17 and Paul, by revelation as apart from the law.
Romans 4 and 5 sort this out in Paul’s dissertation to Gentiles on correct theology. See: Romans 9: 16 and 10: 4. Romans 10: 9, 10 shows the essentials of salvation.
