Professor Bart D, Ehrman a Lawrence, Kansas product via Episcopal upbringing and then apparently he ran across a powerful experience with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
I was not there so I can’t say beyond what I read in his book Misquoting Jesus. I employed the permission and help of Dr. Mark D. Roberts, Harvard Educated Theologian, Professor and Scholar to refute Ehrman’s exaggerations.
Dr. Ehrman Education
Forged Bart D. Ehrman claims. Dr. Ehrman, the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His education was through Moody Bible Institute, Theology and Bible Languages, the Wheaton, then received his bachelor’s degree. He received his Ph.D. (in 1985) and M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he studied textual criticism of the Bible, development of the New Testament canon and New Testament apocrypha under Bruce Metzger. Both baccalaureate and doctorate were conferred magna cum laude.
Impressive, if you’re impressed with such things I guess. My JUCO professor in American History was the first professor to tell me I am brilliant. Then Dr. Reese in the school of engineering. OK. God merely counts me among “the wise.” Smart enough to come in out of the rain. Barely.
My Books And Education
In chapter 6 of my book “Misquoting Logic What Bart Ehrman Forgot To Tell You About The Coming Apocalypse And Your Place In It” (See it over at the right) with substantial aid, with permission, and in quotes from Dr. Mark D, Roberts author: Can We Trust the Gospels?: Investigating the Reliability of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, I refute Ehrman’s claims. Then it is included in Misquoting Calculus What Isaac Newton Tried To Tell Bart Ehrman also.
My educational resume is a BSME University of Kansas Mega Just Barely. LOL. Hated Math 250. Then I got to Boeing and was very entertained by the thought path of most white knuckled frightened engineers. I realized Vincent and Chuck were probably right.
Misquoting Jesus And Logic
But Dr. Ehrman makes great hey with statements like, “There are more errors in our manuscripts than there are words in the New Testament.” With 5700 plus extant manuscripts it is easy to trace where the errors are and what they were. Ehrman himself admits this. Dr. Roberts exhaustively shoots Ehrman’s claims right between the eyes. I take it a civil war further.
But, I have the critics and scholars handcuffed, even though the Sensuous Curmudgeon accuses me of illiteracy. Close. I did the 40,000 word problems in multiple dynamic variables involving divers chemical, thermodynamic, molecular tensile and compression strengths, atmospheric variables, and then went to work at Boeing. Entertained myself there for three years.
Next winning in federal court twice with no lawyer after predicting it to 1,000 people then after the experience studied the Bible with an eye on prophesy as the Lord was leading. No I don’t have visions and dream, or tell fortunes, I just do the math right off the page.
The Prophesy In The New Testament
Here’s what I have found. II Peter 1: 16-21:
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
19 We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (NIV)
God’s Own Boast To All Creation
So thus also carried along, I read in Isaiah 46: 8-13:
“Remember this, keep it in mind,
take it to heart, you rebels.
9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;
I am God, and there is no other;
I am God, and there is none like me.
10 I make known the end from the beginning,
from ancient times, what is still to come.
I say, ‘My purpose will stand,
and I will do all that I please.’
11 From the east I summon a bird of prey;
from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose.
What I have said, that I will bring about;
what I have planned, that I will do.
12 Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, (Bart Ehrman)
you who are now far from my righteousness.
13 I am bringing my righteousness near,
it is not far away;
and my salvation will not be delayed.
I will grant salvation to Zion,
my splendor to Israel. (NIV)
Objective challenge. It’s either true or it not true. Let’s find out.
Man Can That Jesus Prophecy, Watch This!
The greatest show in creation. Then I read Matthew 24:
“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.” (NIV)
I said, to myself, “self, he’s talking about Daniel 12”: 12: 9-13:
He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 “From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 “As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance.” (NIV)
The Word Problems of God
Verse 11 is the word problem. The math for this is all laid out in my post on August 12, 1957, HERE. Today I am just laying the equations down for Ehrman and his fans. I’m giving Dr. Dawkins, “The Lord of the Turnips” a rest today to catch his breath and shake the disbelief out of his head.
So here we go:
1, 290 days (as years per God’s instructions in Ezekiel 4: 1-4 from the daily sacrifice abolished (583 B.C.) (BCE if you like) until the abomination of desolation “IS SET UP“
Calendars 1) Lunar 30 days per moth; 2) Julian (45 B.C. 11 minutes too long) Gregorian (the Pope fixed the minutes … 365.24 days per year) Sorry all you Sabbatarians. Your girl goofed. Ignorance will do that.
360 (lunar)/365.24 (solar Gregorian) = .9857 that’s our conversion factor.
1, 290 x .9857 = 1, 271.5 A.D. – 583 B.C. = 688.5 Bart you’re a historian.
And since I know the Bible like the back of my hand, thanks to the Lord: John in Revelation 11: 1, 2 talks about the temple and Gentiles controlling the site too.
Revelation 11: 1, 2:
“I was given a reed like a measuring rod and was told, “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshipers. 2 But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles. They will trample on the holy city for 42 months.” (NIV)
365.24/12 = 30.44 days per month. 30.44 x 42 = 1, 278.5
Recent History tells us exactly when the 42 months ended. June 7, 1967 when the Jews retook the temple.
1967 – 1, 278.5 = 688.5 (again) Year the Dome of The Rock was founded.
The Abomination of desolation “Is Set Up”
So tell us Dr. Ehrman how if these are forgeries (they’re not) does Jesus in 32 A.D. (Stop all the CE stuff) points to Daniel 600 years in the past and accurately predicts an occurrence coming 650 years in his future and the angel also tell John of the same occurrence to come and all three prophets correlate to the year of the event on the actual timeline of history?
I know the Lord is putting you in a tough spot Bart. He put me in a tough spot getting here to tell you and you fans.
Remember Daniel’s 1335 days? Watch! You’re a historian Bart.
1, 335 x .9857 = 1,315.9 – 583 = 732.9 A.D. Battle of Tours
Charles Martel miraculously defeated the Muslim army invading from conquered Spain leaving the Jews who’d entered Europe Outside the Muslim Curtain where they were certainly more blessed than the dead or enslaved Jews left behind in Judah.
A couple more miraculous events specifically and precisely foretold and landing on the timeline of history in the twentieth century and we’ll be done for today.
Ezekiel in chapter 4: 4-6:
“Then lie on your left side and put the sin of the people of Israel upon yourself.You are to bear their sin for the number of days you lie on your side. 5 I have assigned you the same number of days as the years of their sin. So for 390 days you will bear the sin of the people of Israel.
6 “After you have finished this, lie down again, this time on your right side, and bear the sin of the people of Judah. I have assigned you 40 days, a day for each year.” (NIV)
430 years. Jeremiah had predicted 70 years captivity.
430 – 70 = 360 years. But they displeased God again.
Moses told them what would happen at the end of all this (yes Moses predicted all of this) in Leviticus 26: 18: “‘If after all this you will not listen to me, I will punish you for your sins seven times over.; 26: 21: “‘If you remain hostile toward me and refuse to listen to me, I will multiply your afflictions seven times over, as your sins deserve.; 26: 24: “‘If in spite of these things you do not accept my correction but continue to be hostile toward me, 24 I myself will be hostile toward you and will afflict you for your sins seven times over.; 26: 28 “‘If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over.”
360 x 7 = 2520 lunar years. 2520 x .9857 = 2483 solar years left on their sentence.
At the end of Jeremiah’s 70 years per Jeremiah 29: 10 and Daniel 9: 1, 2.
Ezra 1: 1-3:
In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord Spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also put it in writing:
2 This is what Cyrus king of Persia says:
“The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. 3 Any of his people among you may go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the Lord, the God of Israel, the God who is in Jerusalem, and may their God be with them.
2483 – 535 = 1948 A.D. May 15, 1948 Israel declared independence and Harry Truman recognized them 11 minutes later and then the U.N. Chartered Israel that day.
Prophesied by God, the math confirming it there is no stolen land in Israel. Fulfills Isaiah 66 and other examples also.
Daniel 8: 13, 14:
“Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled—the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?”
14 He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.” (NIV)
Daniel had been told of the ram and the goat and the angel explains the vision. Alexander the Great attacked Medo-Persia in 334 B.C. The 2300 evenings and mornings here are Passover celebrations.
-334 B.C + 1 (year zero) + 2300 = 1967. June 7, 1967
I witnessed the Israeli Paratroopers (age 9) take the temple mount in the Six Day War.
For all of you Christians when Richard Dawkins and his ilk try to ridicule you laugh and stand firm. Direct him to me. “I’m your huckleberry.” Dr. Ehrman is much more respectful than the Lord of the Turnips.
Dr. Ehrman the books here are all interconnected Old Testament, Gospel Accounts and Epistles and Revelation, clearly not forged.
Looks like you owe a lot of people an explanation Dr. Ehrman. Pray for him brothers and sisters.
