Now We See Through The Glass Dimly – Books Of The Revelation

Twin Towers on 911

Now we see through the glass dimly.  What can we see at all in the books of the Revelation?

I am of the opinion we can see much, if we have the background information necessary to discern meanings shrouded in mystery.  World history is substantially contained there from the past the clues of the future there foretold from nearly two thousand years ago.

Now we see through the glass dimly.  KJV says darkly.  How do you see through darkly?

I Corinthians 13: 8-13:

Love never fails.  But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.  9  For we know in part and we prophesy in part,  10  But when completeness come, what is in part disappears.  11  When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.  When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.  12  For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13  And now these three remain; faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”  (NIV)

Now many stop reading here and announce for God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit No more of your gifts God, we got the book now so be quiet.  But the Next verse which originally followed the last verse without any punctuation or categorization provided for us by commentators says:

I Corinthians 14: 1- 5 (remember there was no divide, verse chapter and punctuation until later):

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.  (HUH?????????????????????????????????????Or disobey the Spirit of God). 2  For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God.  Indeed no one understands them (So much for the it were du spirat speaking germin and frinch and merica and mexeecan an Romin, paradigm … no its paradumb); they utter mysteries by the Spirit.  3  But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.   [So long about way back when God decided to stop strengthening, encouraging and comforting??????????????????] [You people have not read your Bible and have been taught by those who have also not read their Bible.  PERIOD!]  4  Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.  5  I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy.  The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.”  (NIV)

So we need to find the place in scripture where Jesus announced the end of the gifts of the Spirit through Paul (apostle to the Gentiles).  And do trust me, I don’t care one little bitty bit about what any “church father” had to say after Paul.

Acts 9: 15 (Red Letters):

“But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go!  This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.  16  I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.”  (NIV)

You have not read your Bible and have been taught by those who’ve not read theirs either.  No I am not leading you off to the “my new groovy idea church of the restored gifted powerful new true blue apostles” or any such nonsense.  I am encouraging you to open you own Bible and read it.

If you are born of the Spirit then you are alive in the Spirit and need the sap from the vine of Christ, Jesus.  He died for your sins not the preacher.  Jesus rose for your justification.  He is the vine and we are the branches in need of his continuous nourishment. How does he do this?

First he said, “You must be born again.”  This is explained in John chapter 3 in your Bible.  I recommend the NIV because it is written, as translated in modern English from the original Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.  KJV is good but hard to read and very hard to understand at points.

Then Jesus said, “If you want to be my disciples you must deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me.”  Everyday.  But he gave a promise also.  John 16: 7-

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” (NIV)

This, along with the Bible through which Jesus teaches us by the Spirit is how we live.  Jesus, as Paul (apostle to Gentiles) said “is our very life.”

Now we can begin to look into deep things foretold.  “Babylon the great?”  This as opposed to “Mystery Babylon.”  Two elements of the destruction coming on the earth for failure to acknowledge God, as God which Paul explains very adequately, in Romans 1: 18-2:4.  Ask yourself how accurately this prophesy of Paul is and have things progressed in these respects in our world?

Babylon the Great is described in Revelation 18 in its final status and its destruction.  The ultimate foundation goes all the way back to The Tower of Babel.  Nimrod, we are told in Genesis built several cities including Babel.  There deciding to “make a name for ourselves.”  a tower was begun with the intention to elevate themselves to god status and throw off God’s rule.

That is the spirit of Babylon.  Men running their own lives their own way for their own purpose.  This first described in Genesis with the tower.  Baal, Ashtoreth and Molech became gods worshiped by the Canaanites as well Mesopotamia, Ur of the Chaldeans where God called Abraham from telling him to leave and go with him (God) to Canaan.

With the sexual rituals, religious prostitutes also came child sacrifice for appeasement of these demonic deities and legend has it Baal worship began with Nimrod’s wife.  Ultimately we understand and believe this actually began with “the enemy” and is the same rivalry against God as Babel and running back before the flood to Cain who when he was told by God he would wander the earth instead dug foundations and built a city.

Instead God called Abram, later called Abraham then allowing his Great, Great Grandchildren to be enslaved in Egypt 400 years his offspring through Isaac and Jacob to be enslaved in Egypt until he raised Moses to lead them back to the land promised to Abraham.  God said the sin of the Canaanites was full grown by then. So now do we see in our time this rivalry with God in any religion?

God commanded the Israelite’s not to intermingle or marry the daughters of the peoples he was sending them to conquer because he wanted them as his people, not Molech or Baal.  The remnant only obeyed him.  Solomon the wisest of the wise built the Temple and also married foreign women and built a temple to Ashtoreth.  So much for wisdom.

Do we see in our world any cities dedicated strictly to men’s desires and completely throwing off any knowledge or acknowledgment of God not considering God, as God and giving thanks?

Mystery Babylon and Babylon the Great have shifted from place to place and grown in the population of men and women the earth over through several millennia of recorded history.

Persecution of God’s people has been the norm throughout history beginning with Abraham then the handmaiden’s son Ishmael sent away at God’s command for persecuting Isaac through whom God would reconcile the promises of Abraham. Revelation is the book revealing Jesus and the final reconciliation of God’s promises.  “The wrath of the lamb.”

Revelation 1:

“The revelation from Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, who testifies to everything he saw—that is, the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”  (NIV)

Once again we have those out teaching without reading their Bibles to those who’ve also not read what God tells us here.  “It all already happened when Rome destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D.” they say.  Pardon me:  LAUGHTER.

Moving on, let’s find out what the book says, instead:

To the seven churches in the province of Asia:

Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;
and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.”
So shall it be! Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (NIV)

Several things here, where are these seven churches of Asia?  Destroyed, murdered or banished.  By what were they destroyed?

Peace from Jesus the Christ and from the Spirit of God, Christ “who was and is and is to come” who set us free from our sins by his blood. He has made a kingdom and priests to serve his God.  Christ is the ruler over the kings of the earth.  Firstborn from among the dead.  Faithful witness.  All glory and power to him.

He will come.  Paul and Peter tell us of scoffers asking where is this coming?  “Keep Watch”  That is the command of Christ.  The world will see him and mourn.

Jesus is the beginning and the end he is Almighty God.

The world is full of arguments because people do not know what the word says and do not know what it means or do not believe it.

“To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, and has made us to be a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.” (NIV)
