Some of the things that follow in the sixth seal which are incredible until the imagery is brought into focus. John tells us about the event of the sixth seal in Revelation 6: 12-14, and earthquake affecting the stars? How can this be? Let’s see.
“I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, 13 and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. 14 The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.” (NIV)
First great earth quake here bigger than any earthquake ever known, since those that raised the Rocky Mountains the Alps, the Himalaya (rock pushed to 29, and the rest of the Alpine Belt encircling the globe. Everest was created by the force of tectonic plate movement.
This earthquake will be a dandy with “every mountain and island removed from its place.” The Cascade Mountains and those of the Pacific Rim were created by Volcanic activity, prior, during and after the flood (Oh yes there was).
We see sedimentary slabs across entire continents as example the “Great Unconformity” a stark line of granite below with sediment on top stretches across North America and all continents as very well explained in the film “Is Genesis History?” It is.
The earthquake concisely described in Revelation also will cause the darkening of the sun and the “real” red moon because of millions and millions of tons of dust as result of billions of tons of the earth’s crust suddenly re-configuring.
The mountain rages being significantly flattened or made taller or both will also ignite catastrophic volcanic activity in hundreds of thousands of Mount Saint Helens type strato-volcanic eruptions simultaneously.
Stars are not going to fall as the unitiated think. A single star would completely eliminate the earth from the heavens. But meteor shower causing a moonscape on earth is very possible for the planet to withstand, though transformation will be horrendous.
Something along these lines is described in the fig tree dropping when shaken by a strong wind. Winter figs I am told are still growing under the leaves late into the season. These winter figs is what Jesus was looking for on the fig tree he cursed in Mark 11: 12-25.
Revelation 6: 13, 14 are peculiar statements on a different aspect:
” … and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind.The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place.”
There are different types of scrolls and I am told this one is like a Torah which is a split scroll. You unroll the scroll in the direction you want to read while rolling up the previous part of the scroll.
Now when one of these is rolled to a new location imagine the heavens above it and the orientation is now in a new alignment. This would occur in the event of reorientation of earth’s rotation. The North Star is no longer north.
The constellations no longer where they were prior to this earthquake meaning navigation is transform by the reorientation of the earth’s rotation. A continent submerges, the mass of water moving instantly throws the earth into a new orbital orientation.
Tsunami of gargantuan proportion in every direction at once. Cataclysmic beyond the imagination. The whole earth, seasons, climate, sunlight, moonlight, the ground beneath the feet, your compass and sextant no longer pointing you home.
Florida now at the North Pole?
The response on earth? The entire earth covered with corpses and everyone realizing there is definitely something to this God thing those Christians as well Jews were talking about.
Revelation 6: 15-17 describes the horror this event has evoked among the evil in full bloom until just prior to this Great Earthquake:
15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us[f] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”
Yeah the big uh oh.
Isaiah 34: 1-4 gives us more detail into this Sixth Seal Judgment:
.Come near, you nations, and listen;
pay attention, you peoples!
Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,
the world, and all that comes out of it!
2 The Lord is angry with all nations;
his wrath is on all their armies.
He will totally destroy them,
he will give them over to slaughter.
3 Their slain will be thrown out,
their dead bodies will stink;
the mountains will be soaked with their blood.
4 All the stars in the sky will be dissolved
and the heavens rolled up like a scroll;
all the starry host will fall
like withered leaves from the vine,
like shriveled figs from the fig tree.” (NIV)
I think God said it very clearly here through Isaiah, He is angry. Yet we will find even now he is merciful. People will still come to saving faith in Jesus in the later chapters and be killed.
As of right now anyone reading this has two paths to choose if you have not already declared with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believed in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. Romans 10: 9-11:
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” (NIV)
The Lord has given you the choice where to stand. You can make the decision to stand before the throne of the Lamb waiving palm fronds and praising him for you salvation far above the effects of the Sixth Seal.
Or you can stand in the ranks of the armies of the world, after the first five seals and hide among the rocks with the Generals and Kings, in their fear after this disorienting Great Earthquake as those who are going into battle against the Lord. Believing the Lie.
