Continuous entertainment provided by the nearly illiterate. Having worked in the Lindamood-Bell System also working directly with Pat Lindamood (the author of the book and the program) I am not laughing at children or adults who struggle with learning to read.
I am speaking to the issue of those with doctorates from Universities and Seminaries, which I name as Cemeteries because they are the primary place where thought ends for many.
Having taught those with learning disabilities the phonemes (sounds we form words with) and establishing pathways (enabling the connection between those sounds and ears and brain, and feelings in the mouth, like building a road through a jungle) and through effective error handling helping the student identify and correct their own errors.
Once these students are self correcting they are flying on their own and no longer dependent on anyone to solve their puzzles in life easily with their newly developed logical skills to decipher what once confused and frustrated them.
Once Upon A Time
A yarn has been spread about the Lord far and wide. It’s been spread by those “raised Christian” who believe their own press. First of all there is no such thing as “Raised Christian.”
Jesus himself told a religious leader who had the reputation as “Israel’s teacher” that after all in his nation where everyone was “raised religious (Jewish)” and he [Nicodemus] himself was the most religious among the religious, Jesus said, “You Must Be Born Again.”
While the religious will tell you “we are accountable to one another” and “you need to be accountable to others” this so you don’t go Jim Jones or David Koresh, they believe [Do they have the Holy Spirit? That is who the accountability is owed per the Bible. John 16: 12-14]. Therefore, as they seek comfort through accountability [validation in their uncertainties] and proper doctrine as Paul admittedly encouraged Timothy to do, they form denominations i.e. factions usually based on minor points of human disagreement and misunderstanding.
Then if they find enough people who hold themselves in human agreement with their ideas seminaries are formed for the faction and experts in their law are appointed and right or wrong the paradigm will be adhered too or else. Study down at a college, university or seminary to show yourself approved.
Next they give themselves authority to form committees for disciplining those who won’t remain in agreement. Agree or you’re out! And we mean it. But I have read the Bible for forty years and it say this … .
The Lord God Said This, However
Jeremiah 31: 31-34:
“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time,” declares the Lord. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be there God and they will be my people. No longer will they teach their neighbor or say to one another, Know the Lord, because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
Goober and Gomer
The religious, seem from this vantage point, lost in the forest while looking for the trees. They intensely study what other men “the church fathers” have said, while emphasizing the importance of what these other fallen men have concluded.
Validation at last. But Jesus said, John 5: 21, 24:
“For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it. 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him.
24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.”
Jesus does not make bad people good he makes dead people alive by the Spirit he gives those born of the Spirit. Wesley says which ones? The Lord says “ALL OF THEM.” John 17:
“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.” (NIV)
In the next few verses we find the continuing prayer of God the Son speaking for himself:
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
When Goober gets done, however, we are left with the world’s response in this form:
“Oh they think they’re so righteous.” “But look at them they are just a bunch of Hypocrites.”
This as they lay religious “stumbling blocks” before those trying to enter in. Lording it over others as they were warned by Jesus not to do.
Simon Peter in Acts 15: 5-21:
“Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”
6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. 8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith. 10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”
12 The whole assembly became silent as they listened to Barnabas and Paul telling about the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them. 13 When they finished, James spoke up. “Brothers,” he said, “listen to me. 14 Simon has described to us how God first intervened to choose a people for his name from the Gentiles. 15 The words of the prophets are in agreement with this, as it is written:
16 “‘After this I will return
and rebuild David’s fallen tent.
Its ruins I will rebuild,
and I will restore it,
17 that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord,
even all the Gentiles who bear my name,
says the Lord, who does these things’—
18 things known from long ago.
19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. 20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood. 21 For the law of Moses has been preached in every city from the earliest times and is read in the synagogues on every Sabbath.” (NIV)
Many times their own children go away to college and are exposed to the Ehrman, Dawkins, Hitchens variety and walk away saying, “The Bible is just a book”, as these highly educated (allegedly) teach and preach. Even their own children understand they are not what they claim to be. Way to go Wesley.
Jesus: “they have passed over from death to life.” That sounds permanent, like eternal life?. John 3: 16:
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
The other team in our day is Calvin. The Five verses that are way more important than all the other 30,000 plus verses and proof you have no free will to choose to serve God. They have not, these two rightly divided the Word of God; rather they have rightly divided the body of Christ.
“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (NIV)
Once again we are back to what’s on the inside of the cup. So what’s in there? If you do not have the Spirit from Jesus, Paul explains it at Romans 1: 18-32, 2:1-4.
And Jesus says you “must be born of the Spirit” and Paul explains that in Galatians 5: 13-26:
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever[c] you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. (NIV)
Factions and divisions, as opposed to the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus said,
“If you want to be my disciple you must deny yourself, pick up your cross and carry it to me.” (NIV)
Religion is the tool of the enemy inasmuch as destruction is accomplished by a religious system that is very close to what the Bible says, but is not what the relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit clearly laid out there actually is. So to avoid being deceived you must know what the Bible says as taught to you by God’s Spirit whom Jesus calls the Spirit of truth who guides into the whole truth.
