Dividing The Body Of Christ – Can John MacArthur Read?

Yes, of course he can.  I don’t want to be overly critical because, in spite of Calvinist misconceptions, I have heard him do some very good teaching.  But when we get to gifts of the Spirit he is utterly un-scripturally misaligned.

“Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10 but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. 11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. 12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Here, John MacArthur can read this sort of.  Since I am picking on those who reject the gifts of the Spirit I will add Justin Peters, Paul Washer, Voddie Bachman also to the list of those who can sort of read.

Here, Paul, apostle to the Gentiles speaks to “when completeness comes.”  The many claim, being cessation believers (i.e. the gifts stopped in the first century with the death of the apostles and prophets, their belief) and these, themselves go beyond what is written (Paul told us not to do so) and announce the end of the Spirit’s gifting(s). Just like that, through their poor reading skills, they claim this says the gifts ceased.

Paul speaks here of the day we see Jesus face to face in glorified and incorruptible bodies. Not when the Bible is finished.  Paul is zeroing in on what is paramount beside any gifts that being faith, hope and love.  And as John says:

But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.

Jesus was very clear that the gift IS the Spirit in John 16: 12-14:

“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” (NIV)

Idolatry held for the apostles has led to ideas that this was only for the apostles lasting only to the end of the first century.  Reading John, chapter 14 thru 17 however Jesus is speaking of being one with the Son, himself and he being one with the Father through the Spirit of truth also called the Holy Spirit.

“What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas[b]”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name. 16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.”

As a young adult I came to my first vital extended experience with church after having had a profound born again experience.  Church is full of people raised in this religion (divisions) or that and not necessarily born of the Spirit in any life changing way.

So let’s consult Paul who learned his gospel from Jesus and not from the other Jewish Apostles who were themselves trying to figure this all out.  Read Acts 15 and you will find Paul teaching the reality of the gospel of grace to the others, Peter, John, James etc.

Jews were raised under the law of Moses.  As Peter says in Acts Chap. 15 “a burden neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear.”  The law will not get anyone to the kingdom and is therefore not of any use to anyone already born of the Spirit.

Hebrews was written to Jews who were escaping the burdensome law and coming to Christ by faith, saved by grace.  I believe Paul wrote the book.  He was expert in the law as Gamaliel’s student.  And Paul’s Great Big Book for naughty, disobedient Jews would convince none of them.  So he left it anonymous.

Here is what it says about the law at 7: 11-22:

“If perfection could have been attained through the Levitical priesthood—and indeed the law given to the people established that priesthood—why was there still need for another priest to come, one in the order of Melchizedek, not in the order of Aaron? 12 For when the priesthood is changed, the law must be changed also. 13 He of whom these things are said belonged to a different tribe, and no one from that tribe has ever served at the altar. 14 For it is clear that our Lord descended from Judah, and in regard to that tribe Moses said nothing about priests. 15 And what we have said is even more clear if another priest like Melchizedek appears, 16 one who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to his ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life. 17 For it is declared:

“You are a priest forever,
    in the order of Melchizedek.”

18 The former regulation is set aside because it was weak and useless 19 (for the law made nothing perfect), and a better hope is introduced, by which we draw near to God.

20 And it was not without an oath! Others became priests without any oath, 21 but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him:

“The Lord has sworn
and will not change his mind:
    ‘You are a priest forever.’”

22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant.” (NIV)

That better covenant (new covenant was prophesied by Jeremiah very concisely through the Holy Spirit at Jeremiah 31: 31-34:

“The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
“when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel
and with the people of Judah.
32 It will not be like the covenant
    I made with their ancestors
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them,”
declares the Lord.
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
34 No longer will they teach their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive their wickedness
and will remember their sins no more.” (NIV)

This is God speaking through Jeremiah of the work God does himself in the lives of living  individuals who receive Jesus by faith and resultant grace of God, which is a gift given through the work Jesus, the Son of God, did on the cross.  That was the signing of a legal contract.  He is the propitiation for your sins and the sins of the whole world.

God told Adam “you will surely die” the fallen angel asked Eve, “did God really say you will die?”  Eve saw the fruit was “pleasing to the eye.”  And would give her “wisdom.”  Thus death entered the world.  Sin reached its first zenith act in the murder of Abel by Cain.

Cain, by the way built the world’s first city.  Do you like everything that goes on in cities?

So, like a piano banged on by many youngsters, soon it is out of tune.  The creation itself is out of tune with him who made it.

The authority and dominion (no not in the NAR sense of the word) over the earth was taken from Adam on God’s behalf and transferred to Satan. Such that when Satan was tempting Jesus he rightfully told Jesus “I will give you all the kingdoms of the earth and all their glory, for they belong to me, if you will bow down and worship me.” (paraphrased)

God is not going to worship the devil he created.  There Jesus acted to return authority over the earth to God the Father.  “Away from me Satan for it is written worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”

God had promised Adam if they ate from the tree they would die.  Death was the price required for Adam’s sin.  God’s plan was accomplished by himself, Jesus on the Cross paid the sin debt owed by Adam and every one of his offspring.  Propitiation was gained for the earth by the atonement of Christ.

It is not by the magic words used by Paul Washer, “Repent of Your Sins.”  A ridiculous notion where God’s Holiness is beyond understanding and making yourself sinless or holy (that’s what God demands and it is beyond your power to attain) and this religious nonsense is actually anathema.  The blood of Jesus and his resurrection are the only substance of salvation under creation administered by Christ through the Holy Spirit who does not speak on his own, (to those born of the Spirit (John 3)) but only what Jesus speaks to his sheep who know his voice.

I Corinthians 1: 28-31:

“God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (NIV)

Once again, I speak to the plethora of diverse and divisive teachers and their diverse claimed gospels.  Most of it is based on very easily discernable misreading, selective hearing ladies. (?)  The many read the four books Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, claiming they are preaching the gospel, not realizing in their shallow thought that all of those books place the crucifixion and resurrection near the end of their writing.  That, death and resurrection of the prophesied Son of God, “IS” the gospel.  See: Colossians 1.

These teachers overlay many Old Testament requirements meant only for Jews while under law (no longer) on those saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the atonement sacrifice.  Discernment is required to correctly read the scriptures.

For instance the “seat of Moses” is a Rabbinic phrase meaning the “trying of cases per the Torah Law.”  So a woman found in adultery was to be stoned to death per that law.  Jesus knew for forty years after his death, resurrection and glorification the law would still be in place and the Pharisees and teachers of the law would still be sitting in judgment and able enforce it.

Matthew 23: 1-4:

“Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples: “The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat. So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.” (NIV)

Jesus flat out told you he was speaking only to the lost sheep of Israel.  Matthew 10 and Matthew 15.

Matthew 5: 18 and 19 are the most widely misread and applied statement Jesus made:

“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”  (NIV)

The kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of God are not synonymous.  The kingdom of heaven is God sitting on the throne of David upon the earth, in Jerusalem.  The kingdom of God is within you as Jesus told the Gentile Pontius Pilate.

Jesus set two dates when the strokes of the pen disappear, here: 1) The day of his death (John 19: 30: “It is finished.”) and 2) “until heaven and earth disappear.”

Tetelestai (Greek) means, “It is finished.”  The definition is complete consummation and was stamped by the Romans on completed contracts and a completed sentence for a prisoner.

John 5: 24:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” (NIV)

Paul makes this plain in Romans

Jesus’ death, resurrection and glorification is the gospel.

Paul concisely lays out the gospel in Colossians 1: 9-14

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (NIV)

REJOICE ALREADY!

“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.” (NIV)

We’re back to Jeremiah 31:

No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the Lord“For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” (NIV)

Prophesy of Joel as repeated by Peter in Acts 2.  So that every human being knows from the Spirit what is right and what is wrong and those who’ve stayed with wrong, think of the cultural issues of our day, blame Christians for their own conviction from the Holy Spirit which is condemnation if they refuse to believe the truth and be saved.

Jesus’ purpose as he told Pontius Pilate was the cross, completion of the work occurred at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was given at Jerusalem.  The gift of the Holy Spirit manifested in the apostles speaking languages that the foreigners among them heard and understood.

It is noted Peter now full of the Holy Spirit preached the truth about Jesus to these Jewish believers and 3,000 came to the Lord. Peter instructed them to repent (Paul Washer … He did not say “repent of your sins” which would not be possible as they’d already chosen Barabbas instead of Jesus, screaming crucify him) which Greek Word “Metanoia” … “Repent”, means “change your mind” placing faith in Jesus as the risen Lord and Messiah, and be baptized.  Baptism a type of the Red Sea and the Jordan River, a sign for Jews.  Church of Christ disciples.

Nor is it even possible to remove all sin from your life.  A ridiculous human notion and approach to God. Really Paul Washer?  Do you “love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind all your soul every minute of every day 24/7 365 days a year?”  Or with those millions you have acquired are you hypocritically preaching a gospel of nonsense, you learned from men (Jeremiah 31: 31-34 ) for pay?  Romans 9:

“Not only that, but Rebekah’s children were conceived at the same time by our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses,

“I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” (NIV)

So much for the “good choices gospel.”  Psychobabbel to relieve any burden of mercy to love where there have been bad choices.

Then from here instead of focus on the grace of Jesus we get into the entire mental gymnastics of GOOBER *Calvin” and the “do your way to holiness” (they hit me with the rule book) GOMER “Wesley” rather than simply accepting the grace that God has given by faith.  Always seeking to glorify human intelligence and proper “dividing of the body of Christ.”

Jesus explained how we are sanctified and it is your choice, every day.  Matthew 16:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[f] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.” (NIV)

This is way beyond the law and repentance for bad acts (Paul Washer) as Paul also indicated the need to move to maturity.

I Timothy 1: 5-7:

“The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.”  (NIV)

Romans 15: 14-20:

“I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another. 15 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit (Whom did Jesus say is sanctified in John 17?) .

17 Therefore I glory in Christ Jesus in my service to God. 18 I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done— 19 by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. So from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum, I have fully proclaimed the gospel of Christ. 20 It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.” (NIV)

THE GOSPEL:  Concisely is found in Colossians 1.

Gifts of the Spirit.

I Corinthians 13: 4-13:

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

But the greatest of these is love.” (NIV)

Oh, here it is I capitulate, the gifts ended long ago like it says here. They were only for the apostles. NOT!  Look at the next verses in I Corinthians 14: 1:

“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort. Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church. I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,[b] but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.”  (NIV)

Oh that’s it the Spirit who gives the gifts decided at some point no one needs any strengthening encouragement or comfort, Justin Peters.  Acts 2!

Speaking in tongues appears here a valid gift of the Spirit from Paul, apostle to the gentiles (personally chosen to bring Jesus to the Gentiles Acts 9: 15, in red letters for you red letter fans).  Edifies means to build up, so anyone speaking in tongues is building themselves up uttering mysteries by the Holy Spirit.  But he would rather have you prophesy.  I Corinthians 14: 29:

Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.” (NIV)

So it is up to the individual to discern what to make of any prophecy.  This requires the discernment of the Spirit who will never speak on his own and his speaking will always align with the Book.

Paul would like everyone of you to speak in tongues.  THIS IS THE WORD OF GOD JOHN MACARTHUR, JUSTIN PETERS, PAUL WASHER AND VODDIE BACHMAN!  AND FOR YOU LATER RAIN BELIEVERS, this prophecy of Joel has been and is being continually fulfilled since Pentecost.

Acts 2:

“Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: “Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. 15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! 16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

17 “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
    and they will prophesy.

THE WORD OF GOD!

19 I will show wonders in the heavens above
and signs on the earth below,
blood and fire and billows of smoke.
20 The sun will be turned to darkness
    and the moon to blood
before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
21 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (NIV).

Latter rain has given rise to the NAR New Apostolic Reformation, whereby it is taught by self-declared “apostles” (the word means messenger) that God has told them there will be a huge revival before the return of Christ.

Further of course they are endowed with authority, they believe, in these matters as leaders to take dominion over the earth through the seven mountains (as they are called) and I have not even bothered to learn what they are because scripture does not lay this out the way they claim.

Further they claim, as I heard Mike Bickle say during my brief encounter with Kansas City Fellowship in the early eighties, “we are spiritual Israel.”  Replacement theology runs through the New Apostolic Reformation these believing Israel has been replaced by the church and that God is finished with Israel.

It is claimed among these that the restoration of mans’ dominion over the earth must precede the return of Jesus to the earth, or some such nonsense.  This through the seven mountains i.e. men’s governments and institutions etc.

2 Thessalonians 2: 3, 4:

“Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

This aligns with what Jesus, previous to Paul, said in Matthew 24 to his Jewish Apostles:

Matthew 24: 9-14:

“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Dominion huh?

“If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.

26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. (NIV)

He’s in Kansas City?  “Do not go out.”  He’s up here at the Toronto airport?  “Do not believe it.”  And here is how we can be certain.  Revelation 5:

“Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits[a] of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people. And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll
    and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
persons from every tribe and language and people and nation.
10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign on the earth.” (NIV)

Here we find the only one worthy to execute the deed over the earth against the enemy (i.e. Satan) and that is Jesus.  King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The seven seals begin the forced eviction against those who have rejected the free gift of God’s grace through faith in Jesus who is Christ and their leader the Anti-Christ.

His return and the White throne judgment follow.  It is the culmination of their refusal to believe the truth. I Thessalonians 5: 16-23:

Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

19 Do not quench the Spirit. 20 Do not treat prophecies with contempt 21 but test them all; hold on to what is good, 22 reject every kind of evil.

23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. (NIV)

Who does it?  Repeat after me GOMERITES:  God does it.  John 17: 12:

“While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” (NIV)

John 17: 17-23:

“Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.

Jesus Prays for All Believers

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (NIV)

Jesus himself explains (discernment required) Matthew 28: 11-13:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Do you want rest for your soul?  Since he is ever alive his invitation stands to day for anyone to place their faith in Jesus.  Oh, there’s going to be a party.  Not on the earth but in heaven for those who accept this invitation.

Romans 10: 13:

“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  (NIV)

Looks like those who claim the sinner’s prayer is not the way to Jesus are wrong as Jesus told Nicodemus (already not walking in the sins of the flesh (Paul Washer, John MacArthur, Justin Peters, Voddie Bauchman) “You must be Born Again.”

They have the cart before the horse.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f] to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

The Supremacy of the Son of God

15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of[g] your evil behavior.

Let’s let Jesus reveal the foundation of this work of the Holy Spirit Paul expounds.  John 5: 24:

“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. (NIV)

Just believe Jesus?

“When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?”

26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

29 Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (NIV)

Yes, Jesus we believe.

Disciple?

Simple: Deny yourself, pick up your cross and carry it to Jesus everyday.  Be thankful in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you.

Matthew 23 Jesus reveals those with other motives as the Pharisees and teachers of the law.  Matthew 23:  5-12:

“Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.

“But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. 10 Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah. 11 The greatest among you will be your servant. 12 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”  (NIV)

These millionaire preachers will answer to Jesus like everyone else.

Did you know John in all of his gospel did not use the word repent even once?

There is going to be a party in heaven:

Revelation 19: 1-

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:

“Hallelujah!
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
for true and just are his judgments.
He has condemned the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.
He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

And again they shouted:

“Hallelujah!
The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”

The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried:

“Amen, Hallelujah!”

Then a voice came from the throne, saying:

“Praise our God,
    all you his servants,
you who fear him,
    both great and small!”

Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
    and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
    was given her to wear.”

(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)

Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.” (NIV)

Jesus tells you, “Come to me.”  You are invited to the party.  He has made provision for you.  I invite you too.

Thank you for visiting my site and reading my posts.  Chris.
